Public Relations Specialist

Ripley PR, a global PR agency located in the Knoxville-metro area, is recognized as a growing force in B2B and franchise public relations. Ripley PR has an outstanding reputation for creating high-visibility results and landing outstanding coverage for clients in notable media outlets like Forbes, Inc., the Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur and CNN. We are currently seeking a full-time Public Relations Specialist who wants to contribute to the success of our growing roster of national clients while being an integral part of our collaborative environment.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Write press releases for assigned clients in AP style; coordinate internal approvals; coordinate client approvals
  • Pitch client stories and press releases to national, regional and local media
  • Work with media, press and online outlets and coordinate interviews and information, as needed
  • Develop, plan and execute public relations tactics as assigned
  • Participate in assigned client meetings; create agendas and Meeting Minutes
  • Research, write and edit assigned projects on time, with ability to switch gears quickly
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with other members of the agency team
  • Collect information, triage, create and issue client reports on assigned tasks
  • Update client and internal status reports and participate/schedule staff and client meetings
  • Monitor, collect, track, evaluate and create reports on public relations tactics and competitive activity weekly/monthly or as assigned
  • Manage and update agency project management software; adding/updating/closing jobs
  • Maintain agency time sheets as directed, with attention to detail
  • Coordinate, arrange and participate in client events, meetings and other activities at the direction of immediate supervisor
  • Stay on top of business best practices and provide insights to improve campaigns

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of related and documented experience and bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, mass communications or other related field from an accredited university
  • Agency experience is a plus
  • Proven experience pitching national media and garnering pick-up is a plus
  • Strong verbal, writing, editing and proofing skills (these skills may be tested)
  • Knowledge of third-party social media tools, social media trends and analytics
  • Sound knowledge of social media platform creation, design, content production, best practices, image collection, image rights, content management systems and WordPress
  • Ability to respond to client issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Demonstrated skills in email marketing, CRM, and general marketing for businesses
  • Comfortable in a collaborative environment, and is considerate of others
  • Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong multi-tasking, organization and prioritization skills
  • Self-starter, motivated, eager, inquisitive, proactive and enthusiastic
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Paint, Photoshop, Illustrator, Video creation, scripting, editing and posting a plus
  • Experience with paid media (banner ads, Facebook ads etc.) a plus
  • Desire to excel and be part of a creative, agile team
  • Have a GREAT attitude, show passion for client results
  • Have a continuous commitment to learning
